From Monday to Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the vibrant and authentic market of L’Île-Rousse unveils the flavors of Corsica through its local products, cheeses, cured meats and sun-drenched fruits.
An unmissable event to soak up the island's soul and savor the Corsican way of life.
Taking a walk, on the Pietra Lighthouse
The Pietra Lighthouse marks the entrance to the northwest coast of Corsica.
It concludes your visit to Pietra Island, where you can admire a magnificent view of the hinterland and the Balagne coastline. A lovely walk!
Relaxing, on the beaches of Ile Rousse
Dive into the crystal-clear waters...
Both Napoléon and Caruchettu beaches have nearby parking. The parking lot at Napoléon beach, Place Paoli, is a paid lot. The one at Caruchettu beach is a dirt area. It is free year-round. Please note that it is sometimes used as a pétanque court during the weekend of the Pascal Paoli International Pétanque Challenge in mid-September.
Napoleon and Caruchettu beaches are supervised from June to September. Both beaches have wheelchair access with mats. Beach wheelchairs are available at the lifeguard stations. Animals are not allowed on the city beaches.
Discover Calvi, the medieval city and capital of the Balagne region.
Calvi, this medieval city, capital of Balagne, known for its famous 13th-century Genoese citadel.
Thanks to the purity of its waters and the richness of its heritage, which inspire its inhabitants, Calvi nestles in the northwest of Corsica, like a beauty mark embedded in the Isle of Beauty. Calvi, its immense bay, its five-kilometer beach, the line of mountains capped with snow until May, the citadel walls jutting out into the sea – one could not dream of a more beautiful setting.
The Beaches
Dive into the most beautiful beaches of Corsica
The beach at L'Ile Rousse
The other beaches of L'Île-Rousse are located opposite Place Paoli. Head towards the Marinella, the charming promenade whose entrance is marked by a ship's anchor, an iconic meeting place for the young people of L'Île-Rousse. There you will first find Napoléon Beach and Caruchettu Beach. They are ideal for families with children as they are supervised during the summer season.
Bodri Beach
Just a 5-minute drive away, Bodri Beach (also known as Botre) is well worth a visit: white sand, crystal-clear water… It's adjacent to Ghjunchitu Beach, which is also very beautiful. You can reach it by the little beach train or on foot via a footpath. Even in peak season, this beach remains truly pleasant and offers plenty of space to lay out your towel.
Saleccia beach, Agriates desert (A must-see)
In the heart of the Agriates desert in Upper Corsica, Saleccia beach is a magnificent stretch of white sand untouched by crowds. This protected site is home to abundant marine life and is surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation: olive trees, holm oaks, heather… A beautiful natural haven.
Cala di Achiarinu beach, Lavezzi islands (Must-see)
A secluded little paradise, Achiarinu beach is accessible by boat for a day trip. A perfect break after a long walk on the Lavezzi Islands, it appeals to those who love relaxation and far-flung landscapes. Out of season, you could almost believe you're on a remote island!
Palombaggia Beach, Porto Vecchio (A must-see)
Considered by many to be the most beautiful beach in Corsica, the renowned Palombaggia truly inspires awe with its pristine sand and crystal-clear water. Bordered by umbrella pines and pinkish-red rocks, it also offers a magnificent view of the Cerbicale Islands. A must-see, just a stone's throw from Porto Vecchio!
Santa Giulia beach (A must-see)
South of Porto-Vecchio: here is one of the most famous beaches in Southern Corsica. A lagoon nestled at the foot of a mountain, stretching for kilometers along fine white sand… Its shallow waters make it a true sea garden for children.
